香港民族黨呼籲市民出席「香港重光紀念日儀式」
展示港人捍衛自身歷史決心

適逢今年為「香港重光紀念日」71週年，香港戰俘協會及皇家香港軍團（義勇軍）協會於日前（8月21日）舉辦紀念儀式，以悼念當年衛港捐軀的烈士，惟港共殖民政府刻意淡化，僅派低層政務官員出席。

自1997年香港主權移交至中國以來，每年8月30日之「香港重光紀念日」公眾假期經已早被取消；換來的是港共政府去年將9月3日定為「中國抗日戰爭勝利日」，加上多年來不斷誇大共產黨麾下小型游擊隊的「功績」，意圖掩蓋駐港英軍作為防衛香港主力部隊，正面抵抗日軍侵略香港的角色。港共政府此舉明顯篡改歷史事實，蔑視為港貢獻和犧牲的過千名本地及外籍軍人（包括英國、加拿大、印度軍團），扭曲香港人對自身歷史的基本認知。

須知道，歷史乃組成香港民族不可或缺的部分，認識並守護歷史不單能鞏固香港人的民族意識，更是對退役及陣亡將士的基本尊重。將士們為保衛香港，當中捨己無私的事蹟，值得每位香港人銘記。敝黨希望藉紀念活動重溫香港保衛戰的歷史，將事實帶回香港人的公共認知。因此，香港民族黨在此呼籲廣大市民於今個星期日（8月28日）踴躍參與由香港樂善會（HKOR Benevolent Association）舉辦之「香港重光紀念日儀式」，藉出席紀念活動向國際社會明示，即使港共殖民政府如何篡改史實，港人誓必捍衛自身歷史，尊重真相。儀式詳情如下：

日期：2016年8月28日（星期日）
時間：上午11時正開始
地點：柴灣哥連臣角道西灣戰爭墳場
交通安排：香港樂善會將於當天提供來回免費穿梭巴士服務（巴士人數限 240 人乘坐），班次如下：
一、由筲箕灣地鐵站（惠康超級市場門口）至場地：
9:45a.m.至10:30a.m.，每隔15分鐘一班車
二、由場地至筲箕灣地鐵站：
11:45a.m.至12:30p.m.，每隔15分鐘一班車

[Defending our own history: Hong Kong Liberation Day commemoration]

2016 marks the 71st anniversary of Hong Kong's liberation from Japanese occupation in 1945. A memorial service was held on 21st August by the Hong Kong Prisoner of War Association and the Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) Association to honour those who fought and died for Hong Kong. The Communist Colonial Government of Hong Kong, in their cowardly disrespect, sent a measly few insignificant nobodies to attend the service.

Once a public holiday on 30th August, Hong Kong's Liberation Day — together with the fallen — has been systematically forgotten ever since Hong Kong's sovereignty was handed over to China in 1997. Its replacement, the "Sino-Japanese War Victory Day" on 3rd September, airbrushes over the history of British Forces Overseas Hong Kong's significant contribution in defending this land against Japanese invasion, and substitutes in its place the glorified guerilla efforts of Chinese Communist skirmishers. Such is the despicable historical revisionism that the Communist Colonial Government of Hong Kong revels in. The thousands who served, fought, and fell — the Hong Kongers, the Brits, the Canadians, and the Indians — are all but backdrops to the Chinese guerilla forces in the eyes of our current government. Hong Kong's very own history is of no value to this government who claims power over us.

History maketh Nation — the Hong Kong nation is naught without its history. And lest we indulge too much in the ideals of nationhood, the very acknowledgement of history is the most basic form of respect one could ever pay to those who fell in battle, and that alone is enough show the utter disrespect our current Communist Colonial Government is happy to dispense. It is the duty of us Hong Kongers thus, still surviving, to keep in remembrance the lives of those who sacrificed themselves for this land we call our home. The Hong Kong National Party hereby call upon the Hong Kongers who still honour our own history to come forth and commemorate with us the whitewashed historical defence of Hong Kong: on 28th August, this Sunday, we shall join the HKOR Benevolent Association in holding our own Hong Kong Liberation Day memorial service, in defiance of the blatant historical revisionism that the Communist Colonial Government of Hong Kong has imposed on us. The details of the service are as follows:

Time: 11am start
Location: Sai Wan War Cemetery, Cape Collinson Road, Chai Wan
Transport arrangements: the HKOR Benevolent Association will be providing free shuttle buses on the day (with a maximum capacity of 240):

(1) Departing from Shau Kei Wan MTR Station (near Wellcome supermarket) to cemetery:
9.45am till 10.30am, service every 15 minutes

(2) Departing from cemetery to Shau Kei Wan MTR Station:
11.45am till 12.30pm, service every 15 minutes
