香港大學學生會回應梁振英委任李國章為校務委員會主席聲明

二零一五年除夕，狼英刊憲委任教育界公敵李國章為香港大學校務委員會主席，整治港大之說終一語成讖。

李國章敵視港大，早已廣為人知。港大前副校長程介明指李國章曾呼籲各界不要捐款予港大。李國章初任校務委員時，更批評港大教授不務正業。如今上任校委會主席，定必令教職員噤若寒蟬，大學人事任命及發展事宜將進一步為政權所干預，校長施政定必舉步維艱。過往校委會主席曾在未諮詢委員前，擅自動用港大資源申請禁制令。如今「權在我手」的沙皇豈不「悉力以赴」竊用港大資源，打壓反對聲音？

香港大學學生會早前通過全民投票，近五千名本科生反對李國章在香港大學的管治機構擔當任何職位。如今梁匪公然逆民意而行，委任李國章為校委會主席，實在令人髮指。我校時逢形格勢禁之際，港大學生會絕不逆來順受，並會不惜代價，適時執行全民投票的結果。在這艱難的時刻，本會呼籲港大師生、職員團結一致，共同捍衛港大的傳統和榮耀。

Declaration of HKUSU on the appointment of Arthur Li Kwok Cheung as the Chairperson of the HKU Council by CY Leung

On New Years Eve of 2015, the wolfish CY Leung appointed Arthur Li Kwok Cheung, the public enemy of the education sector, to be the Chairperson of the HKU Council through the government gazette. The rumour of CY Leung manipulating HKU eventually comes into reality.

Arthur Li’s hostility to HKU is surely well known and recognised. Professor Kai-ming Cheng, the former Vice-President of HKU, claimed that Arthur Li had once called on philanthropists not to donate money to HKU. In his early days as a council member, he even criticized HKU professors for not fulfilling their duty. As he is now appointed to be the Chairperson of the Council, academic staff and employees will be undoubtedly silenced and muzzled. Appointment and development of the university will be further manipulated by the regime in all likelihood, let alone how tough it will be for the President. The former Council Chairperson once arbitrarily mobilised HKU resources to apply for injunction without consulting all council members. With the authority rest on the hands of the ‘Tsar’, he might as well ardently employ our resources and suppress the oppositions.

The Hong Kong University Students’ Union launched a general polling earlier in which almost five thousands undergraduates opposed Arthur Li to take up any positions under the University Governance Structure. As the wolfish culprit appoints Arthur Li to be the Chairperson of the Council, his action regardless of the general oppositions is indeed infuriating and maddening. At this arduous moment, we shall never submit to or bear the adversity. We shall instead carry out the decision of our general polling at the right moment even with cost. We hope that all academic staff, employees and students shall remain united. Together shall we safeguard the tradition and honour of the University of Hong Kong.
