[POLY]About Class Boycott 回應有關罷課事宜
Dear Students and Colleagues
The University is deeply concerned about the well-being of students and colleagues who participated in the recent protest. We are keen to support freedom of speech and encourage our students and colleagues to present their views in a peaceful and rational manner. At the same time, I would like to reiterate here what I told the students at the Chan Sui Kau and Chan Lam Moon Chun Square this morning. We wish to remind our students and colleagues to remain calm and be under control all the time. They should be mindful of the impact of any action they take and be responsible for the consequences. Besides, they must take good care of themselves.
I would like to share with you what I said during the meeting with students this morning. In response to the requests raised by Lai Wai-kin, President of HKPUSU, I indicated the following:
1. While students are encouraged to approach their faculty members or the Student Affairs Office for help and advice during office hours, they are welcome to call the 24-hour hotline (9504-7544) in the event of emergency and when circumstances justify immediate attention. When calling, please specify the situation (under arrest or got hurt, etc.) and let us know the details of the students, such as their name, department/programme and contact methods. If it is about legal matter, the University will try to arrange persons who are familiar with laws to get in touch with the students concerned as soon as possible.
2. The University always cares about its students and is keen to provide them with appropriate support. In response to the request regarding the opening up of the shower facilities on campus, we have immediately arranged to open the shower facilities in the changing rooms of the swimming pool at the Shaw Sports Complex as well as the Student Rest Area (S403) for use 24 hours by PolyU students holding a valid student ID card.
3. The University will not punish students due to their participation in the class boycott or other related activities. However, individual faculties and departments have their established practice in dealing with the absence of students. The same practice will be followed when dealing with a class boycott by students. Students should approach their subject teacher in case they have enquiries about the make-up class or other related matters.

理大十分關注最近參與集會的同學和同事的情況。校方一向重視言論自由，鼓勵大家以和平理性方式表達意見。與此同時，我亦在此重申今早我在校園陳瑞球林滿珍伉儷廣場跟大家見面時所說，希望大家謹記以和平理性方式表達意見，時刻保持冷靜克制，採取任何行動時，都應該考慮行動可能引致的影響，並對後果負責，亦要好好保重身體。
就學生會會長賴偉健提出的三項要求，我謹在此複述今早與學生會面時的回應：
1. 校方鼓勵有需要協助的同學在辦公時間與院系職員及學生事務處聯絡，但遇上緊急情況，或需要校方提供即時協助，同學可致電24小時熱線 (9504-7544)。請致電時告知有關情況（如被捕或受傷等），並讓校方知悉同學的姓名、所屬學系/課程和聯絡方法等。有關法律的問題，校方會儘量安排對法律有認識的人士跟同學接觸。
2. 大學一向關顧同學，致力為同學提供適當的支援。因應同學的要求，校方已立即安排二十四小時開放邵逸夫體育館游泳池沐浴設施, 以及S403學生休息室予所有持有效理大學生證的同學使用。
3. 校方不會因為同學罷課或參加有關活動而處分同學，但各院系處理同學缺課均有其既定的做法，院系亦會如常處理參與罷課的同學。同學如有任何有關補課或其他相關的問題，應直接與學科老師商討。
