Dear Students and Colleagues 

 

The University is deeply concerned about the well-being of students who participated at the recent protest at the Government Headquarters, including those who were arrested and detained.  As always, we embrace the freedom of speech and presentation of views, but would appeal to them to do it in a peaceful and rational manner.  

As of now, 2 students had been arrested and released.  We have successfully communicated with one of them and are relieved to know both are well.  The dedicated group under the Dean of Students will continue to provide support to students should they need help in connection with class boycott and other related matters.  We will continue to monitor the developments closely and ensure the normal operation of the University.

理大非常關注最近參與政府總部集會學生，包括被拘捕和拘留學生的情況。本校一向重視言論自由，鼓勵師生以和平理性方式表達意見。

 

截至目前，本校得知有兩名學生曾被拘捕，並已獲釋放。我們成功聯絡其中一位同學；而知悉兩位同學均安好，亦感釋懷。學務長所成立的專責小組將繼續為有需要的同學就罷課及上述集會有關事宜提供支援。我們會繼續密切留意事態發展，並確保大學可如常運作。
